Callie & John
The United States entered World War I on April 6, 1917. Two days later, on April 8th, Callie married John. She was when she was 25 years old. John was 42.
The newlyweds moved into the house at 830 Forest Street above, which is still there.
The next year, in 1918, John and Callie’s first child, John B, was born. Their second child, Martha, was born in 1921.
In 1918, John was also elected as a city alderman representing Ward 4. He chaired the fire committee, overseeing operations of the fire department, and the streets committee. Terms were two years, and he ran again in 1920 but declined to run in 1924.
